Here's What We've Been Up To! - Summer 2018

In June, the Plant’s Power team attended the 2018 Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild conference in Toronto. It was a great way for us to get to know the soapmaking industry better and network with soap makers.

As the summer harvest comes to a close, it's exciting to see the fall manufacturing season picking up speed. Everyone's hard at work getting products lined up and ready for the shelves for fall and the upcoming holiday rush. Now's a great time to gather all the ingredients you'll need for your products. Many manufacturers are already deep into production, which is a smart move—it's always best to stay ahead of the busy season rather than scramble at the last minute and risk letting down customers waiting for their orders.

Citronella Essential Oil

Although summer is coming to a close, the invigorating scent of freshness remains enduring.

Citronella, an aromatic grass native to Sri Lanka that can reach up to one meter (three feet) in height, is a common ingredient in many summer fragrances.At Plant’s Power we source high-quality citronella essential oil from Java, which features a balanced, lemon-like scent. This oil pairs well with citrus, lavender, or pine essential oils and is ideal for use in a variety of products, including household cleaners, detergents, refreshing soaps, shampoos, candles, and lotions.

While citronella is widely recognized for its insect-repellent properties, the essential oil also offers antimicrobial, antiseptic, and calming benefits. It can help alleviate fatigue, headaches, and cold symptoms, making it a valuable component in formulations for the fall and winter seasons.
